Worship artist, Vicky Beeching‘s latest EP is about to be released to the world – Midnight CST Feb 16, 2010 (4pm – EST Brisbane -NOW!). In 2008 I had the privilege of traveling to the UK with Vicky as her personal assistant/roady/friend – blog posts here and here.
I remember the day she introduce the song ‘Blessing and Honour’ – one of the three about to be officially released – at New Wine Conference.
It was a powerful moment as the audience, ranging from Young marrieds to 80 year olds, embraced the song with hands lifted high and sung the words with full gusto to the Lord.
“Blessing and honor, glory and power
be to Your name, be to Your name
All of the praises throughout the ages
be to Your name, be to Your name”
I think “Blessing and Honour” is a modern day hymn. A dictionary definition of hymn is 1. A song of praise or thanksgiving to God or a deity. “Blessing and Honour” is a call to a worshiper to focus ones attention on God and to picture that glorious day when we will stand before him and have nothing more to say then “Holy Holy Holy in the Lord God Almighty” or “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive Glory and Honour and Power” or “Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honour and glory and praise!” (Revelations 4 and 5) I’m not sure if Vicky’s song will come to our minds that glorious day when we actually stand before Christ but I think it sure is a songs that calls worshipers to focus on Christ and praise with arms lifted high in awe of all he has done – throughout the ages. Be sure to check out the two other songs ‘Salvation Day’ and ‘Deliver’.
So a couple of things I would love to encourage you to do:
1. Buy the tunes on Itunes for just $0.99 each. (No stealing!!!)
2. Introduce these worship songs to your church. You can download guitar chord charts from her blog for FREE!
3. Spread the word about the album via twitter, facebook and blogging so more people can hear these great anthems to God.
