For the first time in about three weeks, I just drove down Queensborough Parade in Karalee where most houses went under water in the horrendous QLDFloods.  There were probably only three houses with power connected and another couple running off of a geni. What a stark reminder that many Queenslander’s are still suffering daily reminders of great loss nearly six weeks after the flood.

My mum just came home from teaching in an area that was devastated by the flood.  Just before school ended a crazy electric storm went through.  Children were screaming and crying everywhere and just freaking out.  Parents were coming early to pick them up.  The atmosphere was chaotic.  Seems like it would be hard to assure anyone… let alone a young child that they were going to be ok… that they weren’t going to loose their house and toys again or see it all the chaos on TV again.  Hearing the lightening probably got my attention more then it normally would even… I think we’re all on high alert.

So if you find yourself driving through a ‘dark’ street… the rubble might be cleared… and everything might seem to have gone back to normal… but the walls are probably still stripped… floors bare…  whilst owners wait on insurance companies to give answers… many people are hurting emotionally and financially… Lots of people still needing prayer and support.

Keep praying too for the families in Grantham.  I can’t imagine driving home each day remembering that horrific day and then thinking of all the families that lost family members and suffered such great loss.
