Jenna’s leaving hospital
Yesterday I got to visit Jenna for the first time after her operation. It was still – even though I had tried to mentally prepared myself for it – a little bit of a shock seeing my dear friend now with all her precious hair (a womens glory!) shaved off and replaced with a massive horse shoe shaped scar. (Jenna wasn’t quite ready for me to share the pics with you all just yet) I was, however, quickly able to pull myself together when I saw her beautiful, uncompromised smile beckoning me in. Ah, it was such an amazing experience. I know this journey for her hasn’t been easy as this blog may have possibly painted. But life just isn’t all the time. Jenna-Jet (my roomy nickname for her) has the God of the universe going through every moment of this ordeal with her. And she’s doing ok!
She’s actually being released from hospital tomorrow and will be under strict recovery guidelines so she mends as quickly as possible. Her recovery could take from six weeks to three months so there will definitely be more room for visitors. Hopefully if you haven’t been able to see her yet you’ll understand. Please let me know if you’d be interested in bringing a meal. We are scheduling people to help with this so try and relieve extra pressure and definitely if anyone wants to send cards or financial support please let me know.
This is a little extract from an update Mandy sent out the other day. Thought this may encourage you…
Jenna did tell me today that a nurse came in off duty to see her and decided to serve her by washing her wound on her head. I thought that was so sweet. This woman has been so touched by Jenna that she just wanted to serve her even though she was under no obligation to. And, every nurse that has come into contact with Jenna has fallen in love with her. As Jenna gets transferred from room to room the nurses track her down and pay a visit as often as they can. Jenna’s got a whole little ministry going at the hospital. It’s like Joseph… put him in jail and he ministered to everyone he could. Put Jenna in a hospital with a tumor and she will minister to everyone she can get her hands on!! What a testimony…
